Oh, the Paintings

About a year ago I started oil painting again. I did a lot in college but haven't painted in over a decade... and a half. Check out some of the paintings in the slide show on my blog. Most I've given away. A few are hanging in my house. A few are in my closet and will never see the light of day. And I've sold a few at benefit auctions around the area. One actually went for $265! I can be happy with that! I've started a group that meets once a month to do various art projects (painting, clay throwing, knitting, scrapbooking, drawing, etc.). We call ourselves, "Creative Communities." If you'd like more information on joining our group, or starting your own group, let me know. We've been meeting for a year now and it's a joy to see how we've grown together as a group, and how we've grown in our talent. Our goal is to have enough product collectively to rent one of those booths at local craft fairs, or hold our own informal art showing by the summer of 2009. Let me know what you think about my paintings. I can take constructive criticism well.

Homework

I've completely forgotten how homework weighs upon a person. Especially a person whose husband is currently in California on business, whose complete support network is incapacitated (sister had surgery, in-laws are traveling, mother is sick, friends are on vacation), and who must run the family business ALONE while taking five full days of classes while the three kids claim they are "bored" going to work with me! This must be one of those tests the Bible tells us about. If I come out of this with grace and dignity, it will be a miracle.... IF I come out alive at all!

I do feel better now getting that off my chest. Maybe this blog is meant to be theraputic at this point. ??

I've actually considered giving my blog out to my friend to preview it for me. AHH! I guess it is official.

June 22, 2008

As a first-time blogger, I am freaked out that people can actually see what I'm writing. I started this blog to satisfy a requirement for a class I'm currently taking to update my teaching license. It has been fun thus far, so we'll see if I continue it after the class is completed. You may have created a MONSTER BLOGGER!
